Another cute offering from my all time favourite company.

Wait. There's more. The theme will auto change according to local weather. Cool hey.

Going Green

Looks like 2007 is the year to start going green. As much as i want to contribute to the environment by driving a Prius (which i cannot afford), i guess the only thing i can do for now is ...

Source: How to GREEN Your Sex Life

Plan(e) for your next trip?

For those who are particular of which seat allocation and what food is serve, do check out these websites. Very very informative especially the food pics. Yummy !!

1. Malaysia Airlines Boeing 747-400 - Try to avoid this seat if no views will bore you to death. Link

2. Close-up of Wagyu fillet. "I asked for it to be prepared medium rare, and that is exactly how it arrived! Perfect." Sounds like Japan Airlines plane has a kitchen !! Link

Google going kiasu?

Hmmm... an incentive to go Singapore at last. It looks like Google is coming to Singapore. Too bad it ain't Malaysia. Read all about it here.

I wonder if the office is going to be like Googleplex with junk food and stuff.

The Prestige (novel)

Reading kaywin's post was so enticing till i quickly rushed to Uncle Ho's branch in SS2 to get a copy *though kaywin is kind enough to lend me*. Unfortunately, it appears to me the movie is not exactly following the novel. Here are several differences (extracted from the always dependable Wikipedia but may be in the verge of closing down)

1. Both Bordens did not die in the end.
2. Both Borden and Angier did not physically injured each other due to sabotaging the performances.

3. In the novel Borden interrupts Angier's act by turning off the teleportation machine, but in the movie he interferes with the act without turning it off.

4. In the novel, Angier survives the events that have unfolded, but in the film he appears to perish many times.

many more here.

JSR 311: Java (TM) API for RESTful Web Services

Does this means RESTful is finally taking over the Web Service centre stage? If you have been following this space, there have been countless debates on the SOAP/WS-* vs REST due to the fact that the former is way too complex and the only real major implementation so far after all these years is WCF aka Windows Communication Framework from who else, but Microsoft.

The notion of REST + AJAX is just so simple to understand and build. Hopefully this workshop will bring more solutions to the table and solve this problem once and for all.

Hail Web Services !!

Update: If you are a REST basher, you may wanna join these people.

It is just never ending story.

Dee best web mail in the world

After nearly three years in the making, Gmail has finally opened up its doors. So, no more begging from friends and auctioning accounts in ebay that i think it is totally unnecessary and ridiculous. Even if its a marketing strategy, it wouldnt need to take them so long for this to happen, right? Anyway, i LUV Gmail.

and their Valentine's logo too. ;-p
*Apparently, there are plenty of blogs out there reported Google has finally screwed up their logo because of the missing "l" in the word. Its not, the strawberry stalk represents the "l". Valentine's day mah, so subtlety counts.*

Here is a video made by the Gmail folks. If you never try Gmail, you should.

Mashup

The word mashup has been popping up very frequently these days thanks to the popularity of web application hybrid in the world of Web 2.0 (AJAX + web API/RSS feeds)

Now, some folks around the world have decided to bring the mashup technique to the entertainment world too, such as this one.

10 Things I Hate About Commandments

And this
Neo versus Robocop

Basically, they have combined and edited multiple movie sources into one trailer.
More over here. Cool right?

Wii owners, collect all five colors now!

Looks like Nintendo is coming up with a few more color variations for Wii. Maybe to blend in with different home decos.

I kinda like the green one actually since it looks quite fresh. Black, as usual, will look cool on anything. What's your favorite Wii color?

(Jason, get the red one for Chinese New Year)

WarioWare: Smooth Moves

This has got to be the "funnest" and "farniest" game i have ever seen and definitely can't wait to get hold of it. Anyone kind enough to buy me one on the 18th Jan? ;-p

Cheng, check out these videos. This is how you convince the big shots to get these for the upcoming event.

Hold Your Wee for a Wii

I should be proud of mine. Read here. You guys too, got chance to play. :-p

Monday, January 08, 2007

Since you guys probably read a ton of blogs, why not share with others and propel your favorite blogs to geek stardom or, God forbid, religion (this certainly rings true for me since I check some blogs more than I pray!)

Nomination for 2007 Bloggies are open now. Enter 2006's best blogs here. There are other awards, but this one seems less commercialized than most, which means prizes are nothing to shout about (but blogging is all about sharing and exposure, no?)

Capture the Intangible

recommended this book. The Elegant Solution: Toyota's Formula for Mastering Innovation.

I downloaded the manifesto and bumped into this paragraph. It blown me away.

"Lexus doesn’t sell luxury transportation, it sells safe sanctuary and quiet escape. Disney doesn’t operate theme parks, it sells magic and fantasy. Harley-Davidson sells the ability for a 43-year old accountant to dress in all black leather, ride through small towns and have people be afraid of him. And Starbucks doesn’t sell coffee, it offers personal expression and daily ritual."

Anyone has read this book before?

Forget Java, forget C#, its Ruby time.

Thanks to Rails, Ruby has re-emerged and it could be the next programming language to go mainstream.

Even Sun and Microsoft are doing something about it. Are you?

Team Dinner @ Unique

We had our team dinner at Unique Seafood (奇怪) last Saturday. Yes, another team dinner again. Hehehe. This time was for year end and it was really not easy to have the whole team together. Unfortunately Eric ffk in last minute (Sorry Eric, not so easy to photoshop you in).

We ordered some really nice food:

  • Roasted Goose - Wanted to be a geese team...not roasted of course... :p
  • Australian Lobster Sashimi - Eat it raw or cook it...mmm...yummy
  • Snow Crab - Can you see Mabel's expression? Just like Jamie Oliver's 'Lovely'!
  • Steamed Soon Hock - Should have ordered Sou Mei...
  • Grilled Lamb Rib - Western style + Chinese Seafood?? Didn't bother because it tasted good.
  • Lobster Fried Noodle
+ Some white wine.

We then had a drinking session at The Sanctuary Resto Club @ The Curve. Everyone was a bit high after some tequila, shooters and beer.

It was a fun night.
